Hi There!

Thanks for expressing interest in being a member of my street team, a.k.a. my Heralds! Below is some more information on what it means to be a street team member generally, and a full-transparency disclosure of what it means to be a Herald for me.

If you get to the end and think to yourself “yeah, that sounds like something I’d like to do!”, then please complete this form! Contrastingly, if you get to the end and think “hmm, no thank you,” then there are absolutely no hard feelings!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to email me directly at tamara.s.harker@gmail.com.

What is a street team?

A street team is part fanclub, part grassroots marketing team. They're an important part of an author's overall creative team, and their importance to an indie author is immense.

Most indie authors do not have even half the budget or team behind them that a traditionally-published author has, so their street team helps bridge that gap: they drum up excitement, help spread the word both online and offline, and help the author keep their finger on the pulse of what's catching readers' attention.

What about Heralds, π‘‡π‘Žπ‘šπ‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘Ž'𝑠 Street Team?

"Heralds" is what I decided to call you! It's taken from The Hand of the Herald, an important printing press in Korzhûn, and I feel it glorifies what I’m primarily looking for: folks who will be my biggest cheerleaders and allies in this new frontier!

    How I envision the role:

    • We work together to brainstorm new ideas for how to spread the word about the Fruit of War Saga and get folks reading, and where marketing efforts will be most effective (online or offline).
    • I give you as much support as I can in terms of resources/specs/etc., and listen to any suggestions you may have for new ones.
    • You're so familiar with me and my work that you have a great degree of discretion when making connections; while any big decisions or ventures should involve me, I should be able to trust you with the everyday stuff!
    • While voluntary and unpaid right now, I will always look for ways to give you special perks and make you feel appreciated!

Right now, I'm looking for folks to help with Stone and Flesh, which came out March 1st 2026. Sustaining S&F's hype will not only drive sales, but more importantly, help me build a genuine community of readers. This momentum will ideally feed that of Book 2.

    Do I need a marketing/influencer background?

While it’s very helpful to have, it’s not necessary! If you read a lot – especially in the epic and/or dark fantasy genre – and like talking about books, then that’s enough!

Preexisting audiences on social media platforms are great, but so are connections to local booksellers or a knack for print design! A variety of skills and interests can be useful in this role; enthusiasm and initiative is key.

    Do I need to have read π‘†π‘‘π‘œπ‘›π‘’ π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ πΉπ‘™π‘’π‘ β„Ž / know Tamara already?

Ideally, yes. The essence of this role is that you are someone I can trust with my vision, but most of all, I'm looking for folks who are passionate about my work and interested in getting to know me as a person, not just someone looking for another entry on their resume!

If this isn't the case yet, let's get to know one another for a bit first before you apply!

Do I have to come up with ideas and materials myself?

I will supply a marketing kit of sorts with currently-created materials (e.g., mockup files, graphics I already use, my author photo, etc.) along with a briefing document with important information that may be useful, like ISBNs, color hex codes, and so on.

While we may confer about how best to use these, I very much welcome ideas and new materials! After all, you'll likely think of new ways to connect with readers that I haven't! The goal will always be consistency so that I can develop a 'brand' of sorts.

This might be for you if... This might NOT be for you if...
You’re enthusiastic about The Fruit of War Saga and Tamara! You have no interest in fantasy books or Tamara's work.
You’ve read Book 1 or intend to very soon, and intend to read its sequels. You haven't read Book 1 and don't intend to, or don't intend to get to know Tamara.
You love talking about and recommending books to others, either online or in person or both. You don't like talking about or recommending books to others, or working with authors.
You enjoy working as a team, and with authors. You tend to forget things like timelines or details, or don't check your email regularly.
You're a creative problem-solver, and thrive under being able to take your own initiative. You hate marketing.
You get a kick from helping independent creatives and small businesses grow. You're looking for a role paid in cold hard cash.
